​​Beverage containers should not contain foreign materials been removed such as rocks, sand, cigarettes, etc., other than the residue of the beverage originally packaged. Refund value is not payable for excess moisture and/or residue. If the beverage
containers are dirty or contaminated, be sure to either take the containers back or accept the reduced amount of refund value paid by a percentage of shrinkage

THE CRV MESSAGE IS ON THE BEVERAGE CONTANER
​One of the following messages must be printed or embossed on the container or a clear stamp or label must be affixed to the container. Aluminum and bimetal containers typically have the message on the lid. Glass and plastic bottles usually have the message on the product label

OUT-OF-STATE VEHICLES – $50.00 REFUND VALUE LIMIT
A load of material shall be deemed not eligible for any refund value if the motor vehicle, if any, used to deliver the load has a license plate from any foreign country, or any state other than California, unless the total refund value of material delivered by any one person per day does not exceed fifty dollars ($50.00)
DAILY ALLOWABLE COUNT LIMIT– SEGREGATED COUNT (SC)
The consumer has the option of being paid based on count for up to 50 empty beverage containers of each material type.
Customers may request to be paid by count for up to 50 CRV beverage containers of each material type per day: 50 glass, 50 aluminum, 50 plastic. Daily load limits of empty CRV beverage containers are 100 pounds each for aluminum and plastic, and 1,000 pounds for glass. 25 count for bag-in box, 25 count for multilayer pouches and 25 count for paperboard cartons. Any consumer who has been denied this right by a recycling center can file a complaint via email or by calling 1-800-RECYCLE.

It is a violation of this Section for a recycling center to split loads in excess of the aforementioned weights, or accept during any one day an aggregate total of material in excess of the aforementioned weights from any person not certified by the Division.
Assurances should be made that individuals are not attempting to circumvent the regulations by delivering material throughout the day, delivering material in different vehicles, or sending other persons in the same vehicle to the scale with split loads. Also, two or three people in one vehicle may NOT individually sell material exceeding the daily allowable weight limits.

In the absence of any of these items of identification, a statement shall be required explaining why the additional information could not be obtained.

SELLER THUMBPRINT

The junk dealer or recycler obtains a thumbprint of the seller, as prescribed by the Department of Justice. The junk dealer or recycler shall keep this thumbprint with the information obtained under this subdivision and shall preserve the thumbprint in either hardcopy or electronic format for a period of two years after the date of sale.

MANDATORY THREE (3) DAY PAYMENT HOLD

A junk dealer or recycler in this state shall not provide payment for nonferrous material unless, in addition to meeting the written record requirements of Sections 21605 and 21606, all of the following requirements are met:
The payment for the material is made by cash, general use prepaid card, or check. The check may be mailed to the seller at the address provided pursuant to paragraph (3), or the cash or check may be collected by the seller from the junk dealer or recycler on or after the third business day after the date of sale.

This section shall not apply to the purchase of nonferrous material having a value of not more than twenty dollars ($20) in a single transaction, when the majority of the transaction is for the redemption of beverage containers under the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act, as set forth in Division 12.1 (commencing with Section 14500) of the Public Resources Code.
Materials made of copper or copper alloys shall not be purchased under this subdivision.

Seller recycles non-ferrous material five (5) times in a period of one (1) month for three (3) months consecutively. Seller must continue to recycle five (5) times in a period of one (1) month in order to keep account exempt.
